NOOOOOO! I already 100% the game, but my progress didn't save. 😭

I'm so sorry! We are working actively on a fix. I'm worried that Unity Web GL may have cursed us here. We're building a workaround with import/export save like Cookie Clicker, but that doesn't help for surprise loss. But we're also hoping to fix the root issue.

Do you happen to know if other itch games have robust auto-save capabilities on web? We haven't stress tested this yet.

(+1)

I don't believe that many games have long term saves, as most people just play them in one sitting.  An import and export sounds like a good idea. I'm also glad I got to 100 percent the game when it was first released, so I could experience all the levels. My favorite was Neon.

<3 <3 There will be more levels at release! And we're polishing up the later ones so that they look cool. Neon and Sea have some visual bugs right now while we play with vfx, so that's why they weren't in the demo.

That's a relief to hear about long term saves. The engineers were treating it like an emergency, but I was thinking about it and I can't think of a web game that does this stuff with guaranteed safety. But also I think we can do it better than we're doing it -- like a new build or fix shouldn't reset player data.

That's good to hear. I wish you luck.

Great demo! I want to know where I can buy the full game? I have been looking around for a way to buy it but there is no place where I can place an order. I signed up at Steam but I still don't see a place to buy it? If you have a demo then I expect a full version to be easily available. (As with Big Fish Games for comparsion, they were always easy to find  and order the full versions, before Steam came)

https://store.steampowered.com/app/3684530/PlinkIdle/  If you wishlist our game, we'd be super happy :D  We're hoping to finish the full game in a few months. Wish us luck. I'm not sure how to do pre-orders yet as the Steamworks tool has a steep learning curve, but we'll make sure to announce that stuff here too.

And thank you so much for your interest in the game <3  It means a lot.

(+1)

I got farther than I'd like to admit before realizing that the scale drop count does not, in fact, make each drop produce 6 balls. You should probably fix the description for those upgrades. Great game, though! I have to say I disagree with the complaint of everything being taken away when you enter a new stage, you still keep your money, so you can buy back a lot of the upgrades that were taken away from you, plus the clean slate feeling is nice.

(+1)

It multiplies each ball by the x amount! I apologize for forgetting to write the tooltip. In the below comment I talked about the plans for these upgrades, but they need a lot more design still. Thank you for playing to that point and getting as far as you did!

Also I really appreciate the positive feedback. I agree -- I know this game won't be for everyone, but we've tried a bunch of different things now, and this system with the tiered stages does feel like the best way forward for this particular game.

And I need that clean slate feeling too. We added the "hold to click" so that re-buying things wouldn't be so painful. And added the keeping money, that helped a lot XD

(+1)

yw for the feedback! (and thanks for taking feedback in general, devs who do that are great.) I also found another bug: if you scroll through the stages, the amount of coins you have gets added to your total coin count for the coin rain achievements

I think that's working as intended! I think. Coins are global and can be spent anywhere and go towards a global total <3

What does "Drop II: Scale Drop Count" mean?

(I'm going to copy-paste this, sorry for anyone reading it twice) It multiplies each ball by the x amount! I apologize for forgetting to write the tooltip.

It's probably a little overly complicated. The way I'm planning the system currently is this:
Drop I - reduce cooldown of manual drop
Drop II - start scaling ball count up for manual drop to help get through the stages faster
Not sure if there will be a III

And then the same system for Auto Drop.

These got added at the 11th hour right before we cut the demo. They're not balanced or clear and I don't like them and I dread them. I will be consulting with another designer to see how best to stretch this game out in the higher levels.

I can appreciate the intent to step back and rework the game, but I feel you missed the mark again.

It feels needlessly slow, blocking you off behind an arbitrary number of drops and your only way to actually speed up the process gets continually reset - 6 of the first 7 'stages' have no benefit!

I know progress continually resetting was something people heavily complained of before so I don't understand what possibly could've possessed you to continue with that system

To me, it honestly feels worse than before - it might have more potential than it did, but this version captures even less of what it *could* be.

(+1)(-1)

Thanks so much for your feedback and for playing. Ultimately this game won't please everyone, but we have done a lot of experiments and playtesting, and of everything we've tried, we're happiest with this design. We did take into account a lot of feedback (positive, constructive, negative & all, and we appreciate it). We'll likely be sticking with this core loop going forward. <3

(+1)

Hiya again, I found a little bug in the web version. Where if you max out the Drop Button Cooldown by holding down m1 and then unlocking the Drop II upgrade you can buy it but it sends you into the negatives lol

(1 edit)

Thanks so much for reporting this! We're having a little trouble reproducing it. Do you have more details by any chance?

So you get to a new level, you update Drop (not Auto Drop) to max, and then you unlock Drop II--and suddenly your coins are in the negative?

Yes precisely however when you unlock Drop II it's highlighted in a way where you're still able to buy it and if you do click it while not having enough money to buy it it'll put you into debt

Fixed in the latest update. Thanks for bringing it to our attention!

(+1)

Always happy to help <3

(+1)

That's really calming. Thank you!

can't open the latest version (0.3.3). Does anyone else has the same issue

Web version or downloadable? If downloaded, mac or windows version? We'll try to fix it.

download Windows, it loads about 25% of the bar and closes agai

i am now suffering a bug were the bottom 10% of my  screen is  black but only when i fullscreen it.

Is this in web, or one of the downloaded versions? We haven't seen this issue yet! Thank you for reporting it.

web, i think it might be a resizing problem though.

(+2)

Do previous boards ever matter? Or once I move on I don't earn money from previous boards I have upgraded? Makes me not want to upgrade too much once I get to a certain point and am nearing the next level.

(+1)

They do matter! Not in the demo, but in the full game. Each board will need to be maxed out to prestige, and prestige will allow for buying global upgrades. Definitely not worth investing in the demo though! XD

Really good to know. The game plays really awesome and feels fast enough for an idle game that I was actually more engaged than other idle games I've played. That's a good thing as I felt like the dopamine was hitting often enough that I didn't just minimize it and walk away for hours and hours. I'll certainly wishlist this. Best of luck and great job.

(1 edit) (+2)

pretty polished and nice, I'm confused by the progression though. why do you get punished for beating a level by being reset to square one again and having all of your upgrades taken away for no benefit at all? feels bad. tooooons of clicking required to make any reasonable progress after all of your upgrades get taken away too, but I don't like true idle games so that might just be the vision

(+2)(-1)

the benefit is that you unlock new upgrades

It's definitely not a punishment! It's just advancement. The previous levels will matter in the full version of the game, when the prestige system exists. <3

Also -- not sure if it's clear, but upgrade buttons can be held down to bypass the clicking. They go faster the longer you hold them. Helps a lot if you walk away from your computer and come back to it later :)

(+1)

Fun little game. Definately among the better idlers.

A few bugs I noticed: The descriptions for Auto II and Drop II are bugged and only show an empty box. Spam clicking drop makes it bug out, leaving it in a state of auto-dropping for a while.

Thank you so much!

I remember meaning to write tooltip text for the lvl II buttons and forgetting. And they're confusing, too. Next time. XD

Our dev is working on the bug with spam clicking. We were able to reproduce that issue too.

(+1)

Nice Game :). Playing for like 2h XD

lol awesome!! there will be more content when it's done, lots more <3

(+1)

THE SOUND EFFECTSSSS <3

lolll <3 you should have heard it before our engineer fixed the audio balance. like nails on a chalkboard.

Your Wishlist on Steam button on your page just takes you back to the same itch page.

!!! thank you, will fix

(+2)

Love the new polish on the game, dont love how much its been shortened

Thank you! I know, I'm sorry it's shorter. We focused really hard on polishing the early game, but the later game is hugely unfinished still. I felt like it was probably better to hide the stuff under construction. Our final steam release will have a bunch of levels, though! And we might do a pre-release of that on Itch to see if the balance is feeling ok.

weird bug where when i drop a ball sometimes it will do the charging thing and then when it fills the bar it resets. it also does not drop a ball when i do that. am using the web version.

I have had that problem a couple of times, but I found out that it only does this if you press it just a little bit too early.

A few people have called this out on other sites too. We'll look into it! I'm surprised I haven't run into it. Or maybe I have but didn't notice because my brain is mush!

Just updated with a fix for the drop button issue. We're not seeing it anymore on our end... if you see it again, please let us know!

(1 edit) (+1)

Relaxing. Helps me concentrate during boring clases, haha

That's awesome. It seems to hit that ASMR sweet spot for some people, which I didn't expect. A new update is coming very soon!

I got 904785 ball untill I got glitched screen.

love the game

amazing XD You all are so dedicated. Updates underway! Trying some new/improved stuff.

(+2)

Managed to get 48744 balls on space level before it broke. Strangely addictive!

poor space level lol. We're working on adding a max and cranking up multipliers instead. Thank you for playing!

(+1)

played this game until it broke, about 33k balls into the space level haha. love it!

Thank you so much! I should put an achievement for breaking the game XD

(+1)

when do you think you are going to release the next update?

(+1)

Minimum of two weeks -- a lot of bugs to squash as we rebuild things. I think at the two week point we'll be ready to start making new builds!

thanks for letting me know I love this game alot.

I have a question do you like the title screen or are you thinking of changing it?

(+1)

Been playing this game for a couple of days now and I love it! I'm currently at the last level (the space one). The only comment i have is that it's a bit dark, and i wish we could maybe unlock backgrounds, because i love the way some other levels look. (like the water level! seriously though, that one is SUPER pretty) :D

More backgrounds are definitely coming! ;D I got u

(+1)

one of the best idle games on this site so far, but its not really idle, idle progress is very slow and it doesn't work offline but i still love it, i completed it after like a day or so.

amazing art style and sound effects, fun mechanics and it feels like a fresh new game unlike most games on this site.

suggestion, put your game on "galaxy.click"

also i love that the water level has the bubbles go up like real bubbles haha, keep up the amazing work!

(+1)

Thanks so much for the helpful feedback and kind words! We're working on making it a proper idler now. I don't want to put our increasingly broken current build out there, but there are a lot of changes to the core game balance. Also, galaxy.click >_>  Checking that out now. Thank you for the suggestion!

(+1)

I have never been sucked into an idle game quite like this before. Amazingly satisfying 👍

I love to hear that! Thank you so much <3

(+1)

Amazing game! Managed to get to the last stage in about 1.5 hours. Cant wait for more updates!
(+1)

Aaaah I love seeing you awesome people make content! This is great. <3 Thank you for playing. 1.5 hours feels like a good amount of time for the demo. We're working on getting all the bugs out of the next version.

(1 edit) (+2)

it feels illegal playing this game for free

We're just happy to have people playing at this phase, honestly. But I love to hear this! Thank you for playing <3

(+1)

NGL I would love a meteor level (where meteors fall from the sky and splits into pieces on contact with the pins) or a grinder kinda level (where the balls have to go though a windmill contraption.

Meteors sound amazing! I'm working on a sunrise level now :D

And yeah...that's an interesting idea with the windmill too. Having balls go through different obstacle courses. That would be really cool! Maybe if we can manage to make money on the full version of the game, we can DLC cool stuff like that.

(+4)

A bit of feedback:
-It would be nice if it was easier to see which buckets are close to upgrade, as is you often have to wait until the background lines up to make it visible

-The auto drop scaling is really bad, making it a practically worthless upgrade, as the auto drop is so much slower. Having it make more of a difference, maybe aiming for about a third or a half of regular clicking, would be nice.

-It would be neat earlier levels were still relevant after unlocking the next world. Maybe something where the average income with autodrop is calculated, and the money earned can be used for bonus balls or powerups in the current world.

Otherwise, great game!

Thank you so much for the feedback! I'd like to write a dev log tonight if I have time, but to respond to these points:
- bucket fills are all full opacity in our WIP build (except sea, which has a bug)
- auto drop needs love, and scaling ball dropping over time is something we're actively working on. Like even if you crank auto up all the way, it's still really really slow. We need to find the right amount of time to reasonably spend in a level and tune to that. TLDR i totally hear you! Hopefully the next release will be better.
- New build has earlier levels stay relevant! Prestige is coming, and currency/unlocks will be shared across levels. We need to test the heck out of it, but I'm hoping that particular problem will be solved.

(+2)

Cool game, but what does the "Random Bucket" upgrade do?

(+3)

Upgrades the value of a random bucket

This is a VERY fun little timewaster (and i use that word as a compliment), my only problem is it seems like there are some broken achievements, Ball Drop II - V are all stuck at 0 despite the fact that I got the first achievement a long time ago :( It would also be nice to transfer the web save to the desktop game, i didn't expect to get this into it and kind of would like to play the desktop version instead XD but that's on me more than anything. (I also think that maybe the scaling for auto-drop shouldn't be so steep? It's pretty much impossible to 'idle' the game with how slow the auto drop is, i'm glad you can hold down the normal drop button at least!)

NOOOOOOOOOOO I HAD AN ERROR POP UP AND I REFRESHED AND MY SAVE DATA WAS WIPED T_T i had all of the baskets in the space level at 20...... I had gotten an error like, at least 15 times now, and this never happened before? Interestingly it still saved that i have all the stages unlocked, but everything else is gone. welp. i guess i'm done for now! (@ the dev, i saved the error code from one of the other crashes if you want it, i just assumed it was the same error as the previous times so i didn't copy it this time...)

(+1)

Thank you for the feedback and bug report! I've put the achievements bug in our queue.

And I'm so sorry about the crash! We're trying to simulate it. It's tough with the itch build because we're still learning the best practices for web builds in particular. I'll send this to our engineers though! Thank you for letting us know. :( :(

If you still have the error code, that would be really helpful.

Oops almost forgot to reply!!
I would gladly give you the error code! It was absolutely huge though, like 6000 characters lol, uhhhh here i put it on a page on my neocities! https://korattata.neocities.org/plinkidlebugreport
If you'd rather me email it to you or something else let me know! XD I personally wouldn't click a random link someone gave me but this is the only thing i could think of because i don't think any message or comment section is going to like a message that long...

:D Good luck with the game btw! ^^ This just means I can play whatever the updates are from scratch!

You're amazing, thank you so much. I totally clicked the link lol. Would you be able to email the full log to bhg@black-heart.games?

:'D Sorry for the delay! totally did not see the notification;; The bug should be copyable in full in the little white box on the page, but sent to you as well at that email!

(+2)

It would be nice if the old stages would still produce money. So you have an incentive to go back and upgrade them.

That is on our list! Thank you for the feedback.

(+2)

Played it till i crashed, very fun and addictive. Great work :D

(+1)

<3 Thank you so much! And I'm very sorry about the crash. Maybe we should put a warning T_T  Did yours happen in Space as well?

(+1)

Aw, it's okay. Yeah, it happened in Space.

(1 edit) (+1)

love the game i do have an idea: you should make a tool that makes you add corners on the pins to make the ball bounce to the side

BTW the click button is broken, I cant doom click

also I there is not enough upgrades on the game. but overall I love the game.

  shout out to Black Heart!!

(+1)

I'm loving this so far! Here are my quick recommendations:

1. Like others said, losing progress at the next stage sucks. It would help if your money carried over, and was not tied to the each stage.

2. We need replay value for the old stages. Either some kind of prestige, achievements, or bonus to money for collecting X,XXX balls on previous stages.

(+2)

cool

(+1)

I really dang enjoy this, Keeps you busy
Awesome game idea, awesome graphics, all-round amazing

Don't think it could possibly get better!

If you need a scripter lmk, I'd love to contribute to this with ideas and code!!

Nonetheless, an amazing game!

(+2)

I would love to have a rebirth mechanic in the game. Plus, how would you even get the Golden Peg 3 achievement? I counted the pegs; each level has 127 pegs on average, with 7 levels, which equals 889 pegs. Unless I'm missing something, but other than that, I love the game, and I hope you keep up the good work you're doing. Sorry if I sound hypercritical, I'm just trying to help. <3

(+2)

I crashed it! Very fun. I have no idea when I would have stopped if it didn't crash.

Screenshot

(+1)

Sorry about the crash! I think we're going to have to cap balls, but our engineer will be looking into it further. T_T

(+1)

No worries. It only happened because I played it too much. It's a good problem.

(+1)

just for the record i def will buy it on steam =D would be amazing to get gold from the first maps so can be more idleable xD hugs from argentina amazing job !

Thank you!! I'll send out a loud ping when our steam page gets approved and we can start gathering wishlists. <3 <3
